Jennifer Blakeney moderated our panel with Cooper Bibb and Ross Taylor with Sewell Lexus talking about Millennials!  Ross is a General Sales Manager and graduated from A&M in 2006.  Cooper is a Sales Associate and graduated from A&M in 2014.

What is one incorrect assumption you feel older generations make about Millennials?  Cooper:  that they are lazy or entitled; many are driven and eager to learn and be mentored.  Ross said that every assumption you are making is wrong.  When you are talking about Millennials in general, you forget that the Millennial you want to work with is a person with a name and distinct personality traits.  Ross recruits from universities and trains and develops Millennials.  In general, they are not lazy; they want to work really hard.  We denigrate other generations by making generalizations.  Millennials were born into a recession and graduated into a bad job market.  Our minds group and categorize things to make mental processing easier, but you have to fight against your brain's determination to put people in a box.  People in your "in-group" have nuances and are very different and you recognize that.  It is easier to label, group, and categorize people in the "out-group".  If we think less about what Millennials want or need and more about what this specific person is feeling, then that will open us up to a lot better conversation.…

B2B Sub-group Initial Meeting

The B2B Sub-group will have its initial meeting right after the Tuesday morning meeting on April 17th!  This will be a quick, 10-15 minute, organizational meeting.  Anyone is welcome to come!  If you have any questions prior to that, contact Brad Swann!

5 Stand Shooting Event

5 Stand Shoot and BBQ May 1st!

After the rain, we have rescheduled our shoot!  Come join us to shoot clays, eat delicious BBQ and have a great time from 3:30-6pm on May 1st at Elm Fork Shooting Sports!  We WILL have a morning meeting that week so be sure to plan your calendar accordingly!  This will be 5-Stand Shooting.  Michael Bosco’s brother will provide BBQ jalapeno poppers and chopped brisket sandwiches and we will have water bottles and soft drinks available.

We will have foam ear plugs available, but fee free to bring any additional hearing protection or protective eyewear you would like.

The cost for the event is $30/person for food and clays and you can bring or purchase (at the event) whatever ammo you want to shoot.

President Mariann Montgomery welcomed everyone to meeting #4,613 of the DEA, celebrating 83 years!

Innagural Book Club April 23rd

The DEA Book Club will meet the evening of April 23rd at Dr. Paul's house to discuss our first book: Extreme Ownership:  How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win by Jocko Willink.  It's not too late too late to get a copy and join us!  Give it 3 chapters and then decide if you want to join us!

Bill Gates says to read 50 books a year.  Mark Cuban says to read 3 hours every day.  Warren Buffet says to read 500 pages every day.  President Mariann Montgomery says we are improving minds and attitudes by studying the written word.  Dr. Seuss says the more you read the more places you will go, the more places you will go, the more things you will learn!
