David Smith introduced Dr. Bob Consor. Dr. Bob is the owner of the DEA’s oldest, single-owner firm and has been a member for 40 years! Receiving his BS cum laude from the University of Houston, Dr. Bob continued post graduate studies and earned a Doctor of Optometry summa cum laude. He is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Houston, College of Optometry.
Dr. Bob is a DEA G(OLD) member! He started his practice in 1976. His office strives to provide legendary service and employee excellence. “We really care and treat our patients like family!”
Dr. Bob works with routine as well as complex cases, including the treatment and management of eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma and retinal diseases, as well as eye allergies, dry eyes, eye injuries and minor eye surgery. His office embraces the latest technology, which adds value to the exam and aids early detection, management and treatment of diseases.
“My health insurance does not cover my eyes!”
One of Dr. Bob’s favorite quotes: “If I had only one inch of the body to examine, then I would examine the eye.” An eye exam is an important part of a good wellness exam. So many diseases show up in the eye, such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer and inflammatory diseases.
“I don’t need an eye exam, I have 20/20 vision!”
Many diseases can be diagnosed early through a good eye exam, while you still have good vision. Every diabetic or pre-diabetic needs to be examined every year. Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness: 12% of new cases each year are caused by diabetes. Sight is a horrible thing to loose!
Dr. Bob’s office has four dispensing opticians, skilled in helping you select frames. They offer many options for glasses that can make your life better, such as prescription sunglasses, computer lenses (the upper 2/3 is for the computer and the bottom is for reading), golfing glasses and sports eyewear. They also specialize in contact lenses.
The Eye Doctor’s Office takes most insurance plans, including vision insurance and Medicare.
Dr. Bob thanked McShan’s Florist for the beautiful flowers!
Dr. Bob is doing an email Open House and inviting questions or comments via email at email@example.com.
An “A” lead is anyone looking for eye care.
A “B” lead is anyone here looking for eye care.
A “C” lead is anyone brave enough to return for eye care.
There was a great question-and-answer time! Dr. Bob works with children, age 4 and older; he has a great Pediatric Ophthalmologist he works with for complex medical cases. The Eye Doctor’s Office also has a new associate: Jennifer Nguyen. Dr. Bob said there used to be a major difference between Ophthalmology and Optometry, but they are much more blended now. He does primary eye care and can prescribe medication, take steel out of an eye, and manage diseases of the eye. An Ophthalmologist performs major eye surgery.
For eye health for most people, a good multi-vitamin is the only supplement Dr. Bob recommends, in addition to eating well, including lots of greens. Fish oil and Omega 3’s are good for dry eyes. Special eye vitamins are good for those with macular degeneration.
