Ted Biggers, Biggers Law Firm, had the pleasure of introducing Tessa Bache-Wiig, Alamo Title, which also happens to be part of their law firm. Biggers Law Firm practices in 3 main areas; Business and Corporate Law, Estate Planning, Administration, and Litigation, and Real Estate. Ted has always enjoyed the real estate side and continually had requests from clients to close their commercial real estate transactions, but that required a title company and escrow officer and he wasn’t able to do that. Several years ago, Ted was approached by Alamo Title to be a fee attorney. They realized how beneficial that would be to their clientele. As they were building up their commercial referrals, clients started asking about residential closings. And although the partnership with Alamo Title was meant to benefit the commercial real estate side, they are now equally closing as many residential transactions. Tessa joined the team 3 years ago as Director of Business Development and she can tell us more about Alamo Title!
Tessa was born and raised in College Station and attend Texas A&M University before transferring to Texas Woman’s University where she received a degree in Business Management. While in school at Texas A&M, she worked for the head of the ER Department at St. Joseph’s. When she moved to Dallas, she worked as a Legal Assistant for a small law firm in Carrollton where she was promoted to Portfolio Manager and then the Accounting Department. It was while working there that she met Dianna Bass, the previous Executive Director for DEA, and she connected her with Ted Biggers. She began working for Alamo Title in September 2016. Tessa is married to her husband Evan and they have 2 “boys” Moose (dog) and Rocky (cat). She also enjoys running and has completed several races from 5k’s to half marathons! They attend Watermark Church in Dallas and are involved in their community group and serve on mission teams.
What is title insurance and who needs it? Title Insurance protects from risks (both legitimate and false claims) and loss caused by events that occurred before you owned the property. Some of those risks are “hidden risks” such as fraud, forgery or incapacity of a party to sign. Other covered risks include recorded defects (like judgments or liens) or claims due to marital or divorce issues. The title company covers your attorney’s fees and court costs for defending your title and will pay for covered losses. Lawsuits can be time-consuming and expensive! Title insurance provides peace of mind! There are both owners’ and lenders’ policies and with a one-time premium, the insurance is good for as long as the insured or their heirs own the property. Real estate is one of the most expensive investments we make! It is important to protect yourself with Title Insurance!
